Ivy Happy Ever After
Svetlana had received a call telling her that there was a young dog in a terrible condition that had just given birth to 7 puppies. The area was outside of the city in a place where people hardly go and hardly anyone lived. The conditions were icy and temperatures can fall to -15°C in Serbia, so the chances of the puppies surviving were very slim. Svetlana knew she had to help so she went in search of the dog and pups, when she found them, the mum was indeed extremely skinny but was friendly and immediately willing to accept help. She had tried to shelter her pups in a hole in an outbuilding, unfortunately 1 had already succumbed to the elements but the other 6 were transported with the mum to a safe space in a paid pension. We don’t have a shelter and rely completely upon donations to help fund the paid kennel/pension for the dogs until homes can be found. Sadly only 2 of the pups survived!
It’s so hard for our dogs to secure homes as people are often unwilling to take a chance on a dog they haven’t met and Ivy had a very long wait! 5 years she waited but eventually her chance came! She did have a false start and an adopter dropped out last minute but Ivy was lucky that her new mum then stepped in shortly after and, just a week later Ivy was on her way to the UK! Ivy was amazing and settled straight in to her new life like a superstar! She now lives a wonderful life in the garden of England knowing her true worth, loved to pieces and enjoying walks in the woods, on the beach and loves to model her accessories in return for some pet paté! Ivy is one of the lucky ones! Sadly we have so many more dogs waiting for homes, including Ivy’s daughters, Sunny and Honey who have spent their entire lives waiting for a home. They are now coming up for 5 years of age!
